An evening of singing classic German hymns in German

Tuesday 15th September 2026 7-9pm

We return for a third evening of singing classic German hymns from Dietrich Bonhoeffer back to the times of Luther.
What makes it a special experience is that we sing them in the original German. Full music and words and provided. You do not need to be a German speaker, as this language is relatively easy for english speakers to pronounce.

Take this rare opportunity to sing these wonderful pieces in their original language in an eighteenth century German chapel in the heart of London.

The choir will sing a chorale, there will be an organ piece, and a short talk by this year's guest speaker, Henrike Lähnemann, Professor of Medieval German Literature at Oxford University.

St George's Lutheran Church, Alie Street, Whitechapel.
This is one of the monthly series of cultural evenings held at St George's by Friends of St George's.

There is no charge other than £8 on the door (the same for everybody) as the event is a fundraiser for the care of the chapel.
It is important that you can make a rehearsal at 4pm on the day. To sign up, click HERE .
